Natick Historical Society Awarded Natick Cultural Council Grant

The Natick Historical Society has been awarded a $500 grant from the Natick Cultural Council to support its Revolutionary War Treasure Trunk project. The Treasure Trunk is a traveling educational kit designed to give children of all ages a “hands-on” experience learning about the Revolutionary War. The program builds on other Revolutionary War projects presently underway at the Natick Historical Society, including a traveling war memorial and student archive project, funded by Mass Humanities and the Frank and Sheila Magullion Foundation, and the preservation of Natick’s 1775 Bunker Hill Muster Roll, funded by the Natick Community Preservation Committee.

Planning and purchasing for the kit is underway; contents will include reproduction artifacts and documents from the Revolutionary War period. Teachers and other adult group leaders (i.e. Girl Scouts, youth groups, etc.) will be able to rent the kit beginning this spring. The rental will come with structured activity/curriculum plans to inspire learning about what life was like in Natick and beyond during the Revolutionary War.

The Natick Cultural Council is a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. The Treasure Trunk project will also be supported with matching funds from the Frank and Sheila Magullion Foundation. Read more abouth the 2026 Natick Cultural Council Grants in The Natick Report.
